Our Rooms

The Toybox Day Nursery consists of two floors and has no separate residential accommodation.

Children under two are looked after on the first floor of the nursery in two playrooms and a separate, quiet and comfortable sleeping room.  There is also a kitchen for the preparation of bottles and a baby changing area with its own facilities.  The three main rooms are carpeted, but babies are still able to enjoy crafts, water play and sand play, as well as quieter, less messy activities! Babies also enjoy going out into the large walled garden, taking advantage of cool, shady areas in the summer, but being well wrapped up in colder weather too.

Children over two use the four rooms downstairs for a variety of activities, with comfortable areas where they can enjoy books, role play, construction toys, free play etc.  There is also a large room where crafts painting, wet and sand play can be enjoyed and it doesn't matter how much mess is made - that usually means they've had great fun.

The Nursery is well resourced and our equipment promotes positive images in all aspects of play.  Each room is equipped with age appropriate toys to stimulate gross and fine motor skills, encourage role and co-operative play and to stimulate discussion and group involvement.

The nursery has a large enclosed garden with grassed and paved areas, complete with large, walk in sandpit, wooden Wendy House and Castle.

Access to the nursery is by an outer door with peephole, where visitors can be identified.  There is also another lockable door before the main hall is reached and all visitors can be seen on CCTV prior to the front door being opened. The nursery also has a panic button which is linked to the Police so in the unlikely event of there being a problem, we know there should be an immediate response.Hopefully this will never be needed.

Welcome to our wonderful website!

We have achieved Cardif Healthy Eating Options Award, having fulfilled the Silver Standard. This award is in recognition of the healthy eating practices at the nursery and will complement the Food Standards Agency (Silver) Award which we have achieved for the last two years!! Next time we're 'Going for Gold'!!

The 2007 Inspection report is available to read at the nursery - we are very pleased with the comments and overall contents and would like to thank all the parents who completed the questionnaires and took the time to speak to the Inspectors. Letters from past and existing parents are held in the office for anyone to read. This year's Inspection will take place over the summer and as soon as we receive the report, it will be available for you to see.

The BBC have been recent visitors as they came to film the 3 year olds enjoying outdoor play and activities. The children really enjoyed themselves, particularly one budding media star who tried to take over from the cameraman!
